Kash Patel authored a significant article for The Federalist last summer, which suggested that Nancy Pelosi deliberately declined assistance from Donald Trump to exploit the events of the January 6th protest. Patel claims that his testimony, which could have exonerated Trump, was obstructed. He also included a video in which Pelosi appears to acknowledge some responsibility for the chaos.
In a video captured by her daughter on January 6th, Pelosi expresses her frustration, asking, “Why weren’t the National Guard there to begin with?” She continues, “They clearly didn’t know, and I take responsibility for not having them prepare for more.” Following the release of this footage, Patel noted that Pelosi appeared on MSNBC to label the clip as an example of “revisionist history” by Trump supporters.
The behind-the-scenes video reveals Pelosi’s evident panic regarding the situation and her concern about its implications for her. She states, “We have responsibility…we did not have any accountability for what was going on there, and we should have. This is ridiculous. You’re going to ask me in the middle of the thing, but they’ve already breached the inaugural stuff. Should we call the Capitol Police? I mean, the National Guard? Why weren’t the National Guard there to begin with? They thought they had sufficient resources; it’s not a question of how they didn’t know. They clearly didn’t know, and I take responsibility for not having them prepare for more.” In a later attempt to clarify the situation, Pelosi appeared on MSNBC, where she sought to redirect the narrative by invoking the familiar criticisms of Trump. “The fact is that the President of the United States, the former president, and his associates do not want to confront the truth. They are attempting to rewrite history regarding January 6. We cannot allow ourselves to be drawn into their false portrayal of what occurred that day. They know what happened that day,” she asserted to MSNBC host Nicole Wallace.Patel’s article, which draws on both video evidence and his personal experiences from that period, caused a significant stir in Washington, D.C. “For many years, I have provided sworn testimony, spoken to the media, and communicated in various forums that Pelosi and Bowser failed to request the National Guard on January 6, despite President Trump having constitutionally authorized its deployment,” the current FBI Director stated. “We presented compelling evidence — their own written refusals — to the partisan January 6 Committee. They chose to omit this evidence from the official record, even after agreeing to include the letter and timeline.”
“Pelosi’s actions extended beyond merely establishing the unlawful and unconstitutional January 6 committee; she also concealed evidence pertinent to a congressional investigation, misled the public, and opted to spend January 6 filming a personal documentary,” he remarked. “The arrogance of it all is only eclipsed by her malicious intent to undermine a movement aimed at dismantling her corrupt practices.”
