In a searing testimony during a DOGE subcommittee hearing, Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) demolished the Democrats for decades of fraudulent, wasteful spending, decrying the left for scapegoating Elon Musk and calling out the administrative state for a reported $2.7 trillion wasted by blue bureaucrats.

For context, The Subcommittee on Delivering Government Efficiency held its first hearing on February 12, 2025, with multiple expert witnesses sharing plans to improve the government’s payment systems, reduce federal fraud, and, ultimately, save US taxpayers money. One of these expert witnesses was Rep. Brandon Gill, a Republican representing Texas.

During the February 12 hearing, Rep. Gill called out the Biden Administration and the Democrat party as a whole for perpetuating a cycle of wasteful spending and improper payments dating back to 2003. In the hearing, which was broadcast by Fox News, Rep. Gill began, “The Democrat Party has for decades systematically grown and weaponized the administrative state against the American people. And the American people have had enough of it.”

Moving forward and refusing to relent, Rep. Gill pointed a finger at the Democrats for using waste and fraud to fund their agenda, including leftist media outlets. Gill explained, “It’s funding media outlets that are running cover for Democrats routinely, NPR, PBS, BBC, Politico.”

Rep. Gill also drew a clear connection between bureaucratic leftist financial fraud and the shifting tide of culture in the US and abroad. Gill continued, “[federal waste] is going to fund left-wing NGOs that are facilitating the invasion of our country. It is going to fund left-wing transgender activism and sex changes all over the globe.”

Continuing his testimony, Rep. Gill described the Democrats’ systemic fraud as a form of money laundering, going on to resentfully acknowledge that the left seems to show no remorse. Rep. Gill referred to the fraud as “the biggest money laundering scandal in American history,” adding, “The other side of the aisle could care less.”

As he concluded his testimony, Rep. Gill gave one final indictment of the Democrats, describing how the party was scapegoating Elon Musk instead of taking responsibility for their actions. Gill said, ” They have no concern about where this money went to, what entities it went to, what governments to, what people or groups, nothing, all they’re all they want to talk about is Elon Musk incessantly.”
