“No Rogue Rulings”: GOP Congress Hands Trump Major Victory against Woke, Activist Judges

The GOP-led House of Representatives has handed President Donald Trump and the Trump Administration generally a major victory that could if passed by the Senate, turn into a huge shift in how activist judges are able to wield power against the administration. That victory was passing The No Rogue Rulings Act, which limits the ability of district court judges to issue injunctions that cover the whole United States.

As background, President Trump has had persistent issues in implementing his favored policies, such as deportations of gangsters affiliated with terror organizations like MS-13 and Tren de Aragua, because activist judges embedded in the district court system block his doing so with injunctions that then have to work their way up to the Supreme Court.

So, the House of Representatives has taken action against those judges with the No Rogue Rulings Act, which passed through the House of Representatives on Wednesday, April 9, in a near-unanimous vote amongst Republicans, with every Republican representative but one voting for the bill and no Democrats voting for it.

Rep. Derek Schmidt (R-KS) commented on the necessity of the bill to Fox News Digital, explaining that it would limit the ability of plaintiffs to “judge shop” and choose a woke judge who will go along with their case for political reasons rather than in the name of justice. Explaining as much, Rep. Schmidt said, “A lot of things get called commonsense around here, but this one genuinely is.”

Continuing, the conservative lawmaker noted that district court judges have brought the bill upon themselves with their extreme overuse of nationwide injunctions, saying, “The basic policy of trying to rein in the overuse of nationwide injunctions was supported by Democrats before. It’s supported by Republicans now, and I’m hoping [this vote will] be supported by both.”

Also chiming in on the matter was Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX), a member of the House Judiciary Committee alongside Rep. Schmidt. He told Fox News that district court judges, in acting in such an activist manner, have shown themselves to be in need of a bill that reins them in. He said, “Many Democrat-appointed lower court judges have conducted themselves like activist liberal lawyers in robes while attempting to stop President Trump’s nationwide reforms. The No Rogue Rulings Act limits this unchecked power.”

Yet another Republican lawmaker who spoke to Fox News Digital about the matter was Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-IA), who argued that unelected judges shouldn’t be able to block the president’s campaign agenda. Rep. Feenstra said, “More than 77 million Americans voted for [Trump’s] pro-American policies and want to see them implemented quickly. There is no reason that activist judges whose authority does not extend nationally should be allowed to completely stop [his] agenda.”

Further, Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R-IN) explained to the outlet that the judges have shown they have a “vendetta” against the president and so need to be stopped. Rep. Stutzman said, “The judicial vendetta against President Trump’s agenda needs to be checked. Nationwide injunctions by activists judges have stood in the way of the American people’s will and in come cases their safety, since the President was sworn into office.”
