Elon’s DOGE Claws Back Millions of Taxpayer Dollars from Wasteful USIP

In a major bombshell announcement on X, DOGE revealed that the United States Institute for Peace had been kicked out of their $500 million building after a protracted fight between the unelected bureaucrats and federal law enforcement. DOGE also announced the dramatic fraud they found at the controversial institute.

As background, DOGE rocked USIP in epic style by firing over 300 workers and announcing a plan to reassign the institute’s $500 million headquarters to the Government Services Administration (GSA). While some angry bureaucrats have sued DOGE for their decision, a federal judge declined to block the restructuring.

Such was shown in DOGE’s March 31, 2025, post, which explained what investigators found at USIP. It wrote, “Each year, the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) receives $55M in congressional (taxpayer) funds. – Prior management would sweep excess funds into its private Endowment (zero congressional oversight). In the past 10 years, USIP has transferred ~$13M to its private Endowment, mainly used for private events and travel.”

Continuing, DOGE listed out more examples of waste. Doge said, “USIP contracts (now cancelled) include: – $132,000 to Mohammad Qasem Halimi, an ex-Taliban member who was Afghanistan’s former Chief of Protocol. $2,232,500 to its outside Accountant, who attempted to delete over 1 terabyte of accounting data (now recovered) after new leadership entered the building. – $1,307,061 to the Al Tadhamun Iraqi League for Youth – $675,000 for private aviation services”

Then, on April 1, 2025, DOGE made a groundbreaking announcement. The department posted, “Update: the $13M in taxpayer dollars (referenced below) has been returned to the Treasury.” Social media users flocked to congratulate DOGE for their fast work and commitment to accountability.

In the comments under the post, conservatives expressed their rage at how casually USIP wasted federal funds. One of the comments read, “- $2,232,500 to its outside Accountant, who attempted to delete over 1 terabyte of accounting data (now recovered) after new leadership entered the building Wow – can only imagine the corruption and what they were hiding. ”

Building on that point, some users advocated for harsh punishments. One of the replies said, “Seems the accountant may have broke the law. @AGPamBondi should be all over this. Don’t let ANY of these people get away with this. If they broke law, prosecute.
