WATCH: Woke Dem Accidentally Admits She Wasn’t Qualified for Her Job

Intense backlash and widespread mockery erupted after Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) openly admitted she lacked any criminal defense experience and secured her first job as a public defender solely because of her race, raising concerns about how many other critical government roles are filled using similar reasoning, potentially compromising the quality of legal representation and public safety nationwide.

For reference, Rep. Crockett spoke at the House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing on April 3, with the goal of the hearing to examine corruption in the FBI under the Biden Administration. Going off-topic, Rep. Crockett took the opportunity to spread her woke ideology and defend the value that DEI hires bring to law enforcement, using her background as evidence for that contention, something that set off conservatives online.

Recounting her unusual employment story to the committee, Rep. Crockett openly admitted, “When I first became a public defender, I had no criminal defense experience. I walked in, and I told my boss, Charlie, ‘Listen, you should hire me.’ He asked, ‘Why?’ I said, ‘Because I’m Black.’ Charlie looked at me like I was crazy.”

Proceeding with her absurd diatribe, Rep. Crockett told her committee members that her confidence would qualify her for a job for which she was otherwise utterly unqualified. Making that claim, she said, “And I said, Let me tell you something, when I walk in, I’m going to walk in with a level of rapport and understanding. Then maybe some of my other colleagues will not. Charlie offered me my job.”

The surprising admission quickly became fodder for angry conservatives online, sparking outrage and ridicule on social media, with many viewing her comments as confirmation that race, rather than merit, had taken priority in her hiring. For example, one X account said, “So today, Jasmine “DEI” Crockett admitted she was hired because she’s black. She actually said those words in addition to admitting she wasn’t qualified. Crockett is exactly why DEI is bad.”

Other users swiftly piled on with different forms of criticism, with many of them sarcastically praising Rep. Crockett for her unintended transparency about affirmative action hires undermining merit-based hiring processes. One such user said, “She has to be a skit. No one can be this dumb to admit they were only hired for their skin color. And she’s proud of it.”

Still other commentators quickly pointed out the broader implications of her statement. Amongst them, one said, “This is exactly why DEI is a complete failure. Hiring should be based on merit, not skin color. When you prioritize identity over qualifications, you undermine competence and erode public trust. This isn’t about fairness or opportunity—it’s about giving preferential treatment at the expense of selecting the best candidate. The results speak for themselves, and the damage is undeniable.”
